The Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) is an annual gathering of young campus journalists across Central Luzon, serving as a platform for aspiring writers, broadcasters, and photojournalists to showcase their skills. It is the qualifying competition for the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), the most prestigious student journalism event in the country.
Empowering the Next Generation of Journalists
The RSPC is more than just a competition—it is a training ground for young journalists to hone their writing, broadcasting, and digital media skills. Through various categories such as News Writing, Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, Photojournalism, and Radio Broadcasting, students develop critical thinking, ethical journalism practices, and storytelling techniques.
Objectives of RSPC
✅ Enhance Campus Journalism Skills – Train students in responsible and ethical reporting
✅ Promote Press Freedom & Awareness – Encourage free, fair, and truthful journalism
✅ Prepare Students for National Competitions – Serve as the gateway to the NSPC
✅ Foster Collaboration & Excellence – Unite young journalists from different schools and divisions
A Tradition of Excellence
The RSPC has been a key event in Central Luzon, bringing together campus journalists, school paper advisers, and media professionals to celebrate journalistic excellence. It upholds the Department of Education’s (DepEd) commitment to strengthening campus journalism and empowering students to become voices of truth in their communities.
By participating in the Regional Schools Press Conference, student-journalists not only develop technical writing skills but also cultivate leadership, responsibility, and social awareness—values essential in shaping the future of Philippine journalism.
